Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a technical interface with customers, establishing professional relationships to ensure that the technical project requirements are fully defined, agreed and delivered within project scope, schedule and budget.

  • Acts as technical interface to 3rd party suppliers to assure correct functionality of the 3rd party deliverables including the correct integration of those deliverables in the ICS scope.

  • Must be capable of monitoring and controlling the technical project scope against the project plan and Functional & Detailed Design Specifications to ensure compliance and on‐time delivery.

  • Monitoring progress and performance of engineering contractor / equipment vendors during the execution of work.

  • Inspect integrated control panels and equipment at the ICS factory or third‐party facilities to ensure compliance with specifications and design documentation.

  • Interpreting customer specifications, drawings, and scope documentation requirements, along with industrial standards such as NFPA, CSA, UL508 and NEMA, then translating these requirements into component bills of material, electrical and control system drawings for control panel integration, and development of control system strategies.

  • Support ICS business development activities and sales team with reviewing customer RFQ specifications, assist with providing input to the ICS proposal team along with detailed project estimating.

  • Read and understand scope documentation detailing control system functionality required for the implementation of PLC and DCS architecture design and program development.

  • Development of logic and control strategies for PLC and DCS based critical process and safety control systems.

  • Develop simulation logic to support the functional and dynamic testing of PLC and HMI systems. This will involve testing of integrated control systems to ensure the required functionality and proper operation meets each customer’s specifications and expectations.

  • Train customers on use and operation of supplied control system deliverables.

  • Provide direction and interface engineering with the ICS panel shop, third‐party integrators, electrical installation contractors, and/or any third‐party vendors as required.

  • Perform on‐site start up and commissioning of ICS supplied control systems at customer sites which may require travel.

  • Capable of performing tuning and optimization of supplied control systems.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with twelve (12) years minimum of related control system experience in the Oil and Gas Industry or equivalent experience.

  • Strong knowledge of TUV, IEC, ATEX, and NFPA guidelines that apply to the control system designs applied in the Oil & Gas Industry.

  • ISA 84 Certifications for SIS applications involving SIL Levels 1, 2, & 3 is highly beneficial including strong familiarity with IEC‐61508, 61511, and 61131.

  • Proven experience with conducting or involvement with a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), and performing PFD & PFH calculations determining SIL rated systems, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) is a highly beneficial.

  • Proven experience in programming and integration of the following control system platforms listed below:

Qualifications

  • Education: minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent, 2 year technical degree preferred

  • Understanding of electrical equipment operation, maintenance and industry safety practices.

The selected candidate will manage and prepare proposals including estimates that include a detailed engineering solution reflecting our system architecture and technical services to support our project pursuits for our growing customer base that is comprised of many End User Customers, EPC firms, and OEM Packagers. Key Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Assume ownership of all incoming RFQ opportunities and/or customer requested proposals from small to large projects.
  • Review of RFQ specifications and/or customer scope documents with the appropriate ICS engineering team member(s) to derive at the best automation solution and services that should be offered for each proposal opportunity. This also includes discussing and reviewing the project estimate with the ICS engineering team to determine allocated man-hours & unit rates, cost amounts, profit margins/markups, project schedule, comments, clarifications, & exceptions, and other items that should be applied for each submitted proposal.
  • Develop professional written proposals using the appropriate engineering tools (i.e. IAB or others) along with reviewing and executing the commercial requirements for each project opportunity in accordance with the Sr. Management of ICS’s approval. This also includes implementing the required milestone payment schedule terms, ICS commercial terms, pricing & schedule notes, comments, and technical notes in each proposal accordingly.
  • Assume “full” ownership of the ICS Proposal Log currently developed in MS Excel and ensure that it is kept current and accurate, this is imperative. This also includes taking responsibility for placing all RFQs and customer scope documents in the appropriate locations on the ICS server, maintaining electronic copies of all proposal revisions (MS Word & PDF) including associated MS Excel estimating spreadsheets in the required directories, and placing all pertinent customer correspondence relating to scope that effects pricing on the server.
  • Commitment to meet all customer and/or RFQ deadlines for all proposal submittals is a requirement.
  • Interface effectively with all customers, must be capable of discussing proposed technical solutions offered along with commercial items (T/Cs, pricing, payment terms, warranty, etc.) for all ICS proposals.
  • Interface and collaborate effectively with the ICS Business Development and Sales Team on all proposal opportunities and sales discussions.
  • Interface and collaborate with the ICS Engineering Managers effectively along with other automation team members to determine the preferred OEM platforms, software, and technical services that should, or shouldn’t be included with our proposal offerings. This also includes reviewing the commercial and technical content of all RFQ specifications with the engineering team as well.
  • Collaborate with the required OEMs and vendors effectively for each project type in order to obtain pricing and delivery details for each proposal opportunity.
  • Review each developed proposal and associated cost estimate with ICS Sr. Management along with the appropriate Engineering Manager prior to submitting to the customer to ensure that everyone is in agreement with the proposed technical offering, proposed pricing amount, profit margins and markup amounts, commercial items addressed appropriately, completeness, and any special customer requests are addressed.
  • Collaborate with ICS Sr. Management and Engineering Manager(s) to obtain approval prior to agreeing to making any concessions on technical and/or commercial items along with any pricing reductions with any customer during proposal negotiations.
  • Develop the required engineering tools, OEM bill of materials spreadsheets with current pricing, cost estimate spreadsheets, and other items that will facilitate a high level of efficiency in ongoing proposal development.
  • Place a heavy emphasis on maintaining and improving customer relationships
  • Provide excellent practical client services with a commitment to technical excellence with each customer

Essential Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is preferred
  • 10+ years of proven experience with process and safety control systems and automation applications in one or more of the following industries: Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, Process and Power Generation
  • Strong familiarity with the following OEM control system platforms: Rockwell Automation products (i.e. Plant PAX, Factory Talk SE, Logix PLC hardware) including Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB) and Proposal Works, Wonderware and Ignition HMI software platforms, Emerson Delta-V and Emerson MAS Product and Schneider Electric Invensys Triconex platforms
  • Experience and strong familiarity with using control system sizing and estimating tools such as Rockwell Automation Proposal Works and Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB).
  • Strong familiarity and knowledge of control system architecture that includes Ethernet communications and network hardware, redundant power supply architecture, segregation of process and safety control system hardware design, TMR architecture designs, sizing of PLC processors and IO layouts, and control system panel design.
  • Ability to work with control system OEMs effectively in acquiring updated pricing along with staying current with product developments.
  • Strong understanding and experience with commercial terms and conditions that are part of master service agreements and purchase orders associated with control system projects.
  • Effective communications and strong technical writing skills are required
